Tip # 1 is Be Animated. When you Teach students you want to make sure that you are keeping their attention and making the classroom lots of fun. You can use funny voices, change the sound of your voice, or do something silly. Make sure you are using your body to help the student understand what you are saying. Tip # 2 Use at least two rewards When you enter the classroom you will see a built in reward system on the left side of the screen. GoGokid requires you to use these for every class, so you want to make sure you use all 5. Your secondary reward can be anything you choose. If you do not have a coach I would love to help you through the hiring process Here is my referral link: https://teacher.gogokid.com/? channelId=344&referralId=TJSPZJ5ZTGT   (copy and paste it in the search bar at the top of your computer.) My referral code:TJSPZJ5ZTGT Tip # 3 Make sure you extend. When you are going through the lesson you need to find ways to extend. You can do this by asking the questions "What do you see? Can you circle? What color is it" You can also ask the student to count objects, Use the sentences I see a ____, It is____. Tip # 4 Use Repetition When you introduce new words you want to repeat the word at least 3 times I recommend coming up with a system that works for you and also allows the students to know what to expect when they repeat the word or sentence. For example, I say it a funny voice, singing kinda voice, then whisper voice. Tip # 5 Speak at a slower rate The five year old student has not mastered the English language yet, so speak at a slower rate so they can understand you. Tip # 6 use plain language What I mean is don't use language that is advanced or unnecessary. remember, they are just learning to speak English and will not understand a lot of words. Tip # 7 Use TPR it stands for Total Physical Response Basically you want to use your body to explain what you want the student to do. This can include things like pointing to your mouth when you speak so they know to watch you say the word or cupping your ear when you want them to talk so they know you are listening to them. Tip #8 Model Everything- Don't assume they know how to do it. What I mean by this is you want to show the student how to do it. You say it, then the student will repeat what you say. This will teach them how to do the slide independently in a step-by-step guide that they can easily understand. Don't be afraid to show the student how to do the activity. you do the first one, the second do together, then try and have them do it independently. Tip # 9 use props props can be anything you have on hand. It does not have to be anything fancy. I use my whiteboard and my kids toys. Tip # 10 Make sure the student speaking 70% of the time and you are 30% of the time. When you introduce new information you want to speak 50/50 however, as you use the student becomes more independent they will be speaking 70% of the time. Tip# 11 Make sure you are using the correct synthetic sounds for words For example when you are saying the word hand ....... you say the correct sounds for each letter. When your interviewer is repeating the sentences in the slides you might notice they are saying words link arma or handa. You want to make sure you are catching these mistakes which brings me to tip number 12. Tip # 12 Corrections: Make sure you are listening for errors and correcting them in a positive way. For example if they say the word ARMA correct them by saying ARM. The student should repeat the error correctly by its self Tip # 13 Make sure you have good lighting along with a learning backdrop behind you. Your backdrop can be anything educational. Tip # 15 Be positive always tell the student they did a good job. Make sure you use high 5's and thumbs up during the lesson. Never Tell a student no, wrong. Instead you want to say something like close/ or great job and then just tell them the answer.
